Niagara Beyond The Blue is a peer-led, non-profit organization and is a Chapter of Canada Beyond the Blue. Niagara BTB is dedicated to strengthening and supporting families of law enforcement officers within the Niagara Regional Police Service. We strive to promote an awareness of our officer's worth as well as an understanding of the joys and struggles that are uniquely experienced in life in law enforcement.

Spouses and children of law enforcement officers face a unique set of circumstances that lends itself to the need for education, emotional support, better awareness, training, and tools to enable families to thrive, not just survive.

Mental health resources and support systems for families are often not recognized by the existing benefit programs of police services, nor are there proactive programs that empowered families to identify signs of OSI, PTSD and other on the job stressors that can plague our community. Each BTB Chapter is tasked with coordinating resources that aid in offering education, training & practical tools to law enforcement families and fostering a community of support for the enrichment of family life.

Niagara BTB is run by volunteers who are family members of law enforcement officers/civilian members and this vested interest drives their passion and dedication. Chapter funding comes largely from donations, sponsorships, fundraising initiatives as well as the police service and member's association.

Meet The Team
My Why
I chose to start the Niagara Chapter of Canada Beyond The Blue because my husband was critically injured while on duty attempting to rescue someone from falling into the Niagara Gorge and subsequently falling 120 ft.
Following his incident my family faced years of recovery; physically and mentally. We faced so many challenges along the way from figuring out WSIB, SIU investigation, Coroners Inquest, all while trying to hold our family of four young children and marriage together after facing a major traumatic event.
At the time this was all happening to our family there were not many supports and not a lot of information to help navigate all these obstacles and challenges in our families recovery. I felt so alone and like I had to figure everything out by myself all while keeping my family from completely falling apart. I just swept my issues under the rug and pushed through because I thought that was my job to be strong.
So here I am years later as part of the BTB family to let you know - You and your family are not alone, and we are here to help you navigate your journey as a police family.
