Vancouver Island Beyond The Blue

Vancouver Island Beyond The Blue is a peer-led, non-profit organization that represents the law enforcement families of (Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay and Central Saanich Police) and is a Chapter of Canada Beyond the Blue. We strive to promote an awareness of our officer's worth as well as an understanding of the joys and struggles that are uniquely experienced in life in law enforcement.

Meet The Team

ERIN TOPLAK

President

Erin’s long time partner has been a member for 17 years (7 years with Vancouver PD, 10 years in VicPD). They have two beautiful kids and a labradoodle named Rocky. Erin currently works for the BC Public Service as a Senior Policy Analyst. Prior to that, she was a Respiratory Therapist for 19 years.

Erin is all too familiar with the challenges and rewards that policing families endure, and is elated that a BTB chapter has come to the Island. Balancing work, home life, and maintaining a strong relationship with a police spouse can be like a roller coaster ride.

ANAIS O'NEILL

Vice President

Anaïs is a dedicated professional and loving mother, balancing a bustling family life. She is happily married to her partner, a dedicated VicPD member with over 8 years of service. Together, they navigate the challenges that come with a law enforcement career while cherishing the joys of raising a toddler and infant twins.

Anaïs has always had a strong passion for helping others and firmly believes in the power of peer support, not only for police officers but for their families as well. She is thrilled to be a part of the Vancouver Island BTB chapter, where she can contribute to supporting the mental health and well-being of police families.

JENNIFER CAWSEY

Director, Social Media

Jen is a mother to three very busy children, a rescue bulldog and the wife to a 18yr Saanich Police Sergeant. Jennifer has been a part of the police community as a Police dispatcher, 911 operator, and Reserve for the past 18 years as well.

MEGHAN STEPHEN

TREASURER

Meghan is a mother of a brand-new baby boy and the wife to a 10+ year VicPD & GVERT member. Meghan holds her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and prior to being on maternity leave served as a Corporate Controller in the industry side of accounting.

She believes that the qualities of a strong family include warmth and care, good communication, reliability, and strong connections to others outside the family. Looking after yourself as a spouse of an officer is an important part of raising a strong family in a world full of chaos. That’s why she feels so passionately about Vancouver Island Beyond the Blue.
